Miss July!
Growing up in Russia I heard about yoga… I saw these let’s say interesting looking people on TV that could walk on hot rocks or needles, that could stop their breath, or that could put their legs in positions and places that I (a dancer since I was 5) could not even begin to think about putting my legs. ‘Wow, what a magical thing this yoga must be’, I thought to myself.
Little did I know that many years later I would end up in the United States of America and that yoga would be offered as a class that I could take while earning my degree in International Business. I remember coming to my first yoga lesson and being so excited and scared: I was about to learn about this big SECRET that I could only dream about for many years. And yes, I ended up getting everything that I was hoping to get out of the yoga semester that I took. It was magical, interesting, challenging and more. I remember my first tree pose and how wobbly it was. I remember my first down dog and how awkward I felt in it. And I will never forget my first Savasana, mostly due to the feeling of peace, pure joy and complete alignment and ease in my body. I have stuck with yoga for the past 12 years.
People that know me, that love me and that see me will tell you that everything that I do in my life I do it with yoga in mind. The physical aspect of it is amazing and the spiritual path is so deep. But I think what I love about yoga the most right now is the ability it gives me to help others. When someone comes to me after class and shares their feelings and thoughts about the change in their life due to yoga practice, it brings so much happiness to me and makes my life so much more meaningful.
That’s me and my yoga…
