Weekend 1 January 8-10: This is the introductory weekend in which students will be introduced to several sun salutation variations and variations of moon salutations.  Lecture will be on the topics of yoga as a spiritual practice, karma and enlightenment. The sutras will be studied and we will begin to integrate each student's personal intention into the yoga studies.

Weekend 2 January 22-24: Students will explore the various pathways of yoga including hatha, tantra, karma, bhakti, and kriya yoga.  Students will understand the basic ethics of a yogi.  Standing postures named for lifeless forms (tree, triangle, side angle...etc) will be taught. 

Weekend 3 February 5-7: This weekend will be centered on the yamas and niyamas.  Students will learn how the mayakoshas (sheaths) relate to the yamas and niyamas and how to integrate those principles in daily life.  The study of Ayurveda will be introduced.  Students will learn standing postures named for animals, rishis and deities (dancer, warrior, down dog...etc).

Weekend 4 February 19-21: This will be an Ashtanga immersion weekend. Students will be exposed to both primary and intermediate series.  Special attention will be paid to the seated postures and arm balances in the primary series.  Students will begin to learn the fundamentals of assisting and adjusting. Students are expected to begin practice teaching from the weekend forward.

Weekend 5 March 5-7: This weekend will focus on backbending, pranayama, and meditation.   Students will practice Mritta Mudra and asana postures as mudras through the use of bandhas, drishties and tongue, finger and eye mudras.  Students will learn heart-opening asana postures and how to sequence for backbends of progressing difficulty.

Weekend 6 March 12-14:  This is the energetic anatomy weekend in which students will learn the subtle anatomy of marmas, nadis, chakras and mayakoshas.  Students will learn basic arm balances and inversions of progressive difficulty.

Weekend 7 March 26-28: This weekend will be devoted to the variety of "styles" of yoga including Iyengar, Bikram, Hatha, Universal, Power Vinyasa, Kundalini, Kripalu and Anusara. Students will continue to review assisting/adjusting of postures. Arm asanas and asana combinations for arms and legs will be taught.

Weekend 8 April 9-11:  Our physical anatomy weekend in which students explore the major ranges of mobility of neck, shoulders, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Students will also learn restorative yoga techniques, and use of props such as blankets, straps, towels, blocks and the wall. Yoga Nidra as well as methods for prenatal yoga will be explored.

Weekend 9 April 16-18: Students will learn how to sequence a yoga class for others and/or personal practice.Students will understand asana sequencing for physical balance and also how to add elements of energetic sequencing. A final examination will be administered. Auditions will suffice as practical exams and are administered at any point during the program once the student feels ready to teach to the three senior teachers at YogaFlex.
